Eligibility

The LAND Creative Writing Competition is open to any student enrolled in a credit class at a public Michigan two-year college during the 2023 calendar year. Faculty may make judicious suggestions to students for revision of entries.

• Creative Nonfiction
• Fiction
• Poetry

Individual colleges are limited to two entries per category. Entries must be submitted by the college’s contest coordinator.

Note: This contest is NOT open to research papers or critical essays. Those should be directed to the Student Scholars Competition.

Local Competitions

LAND does not accept entries sent directly by students. Finalists for the LAND Writing Competition must be selected by procedures established by the individual colleges who are members of LAND. The entry form must be submitted by each college’s contest coordinator, and each student must have a faculty sponsor who can attest to the authenticity of the work.
